Belt conveyors each have a wide belt that slides over a flat surface or rollers to move items on the belt from one place to another. The belt keeps the position of the items stable during conveying and is less likely to jostle or bump fragile items than roller or skate wheel conveyors. Belt conveyors can move loads horizontally and up or down an incline, and they can be used for moving small items that would fall between rollers or skate wheels. They also convey items at a consistent speed and spacing. These powered conveyors have motors that move the belt, reducing the effort it takes to move items from one place to another compared to unpowered conveyors.
